TIM RUDNICK ART

Photographs
Rudnick's photographs manifest his respect and admiration for the female body. Unlike his deliberately nebulous drawings, Rudnick’s photographs are a study of form as clarified by light and color. Inspired by the Old Masters of Western art (e.g. Botticelli, Titian, Giorgione, Ingres, Goya), the photographs most resemble paintings of the kind found in museums, even presented in ornate gilded frames. The classically posed compositions emphasize the subject’s self-containment rather than her spontaneity. Even so, the photographs offer a frank sensuality, especially as they are almost life size, giving them an immediate presence.
